IMPATIENT for my chicks to arrive! Anyone else?

Nope not yet, but don't worry, your chicks will be fine. Most of the time if some are lost it is only one or two. I'll cross my fingers for ALL of yours to get there intact.

As far as the roo ratio, hmmm....I'm not too sure about that. Sometimes that pack a few more in to keep the chickies warm. Do you process yourself? I'm right with you; I ordered some from Ideal Poultry and they go out Wednesday.

I am hoping to get them really quick like.

I just read the section about breeding in my Raising Chickens for Dummies book. It says 10-15 hens is the most one roo can handle to keep fertilty up. If you aren't trying to breed them though, I would think a few more wouldn't "hurt", you just may not have as many "fertile" eggs because the roo "can't get to that many ladies".

I'm finally in single digits on my wait for chicks! 9 days!

I have to wait until June 20th-ish!! It's driving me NUTS! But I wanted to make sure that I had everything ready, I have to make the coop (I'm converting our old tree house into a coop) and all that stuff, so I guess its good that I restrained myself and ordered them to come in in June. I have to resist the temptation to call Meyer and ask to send them this week! Haha

I just found out today that instead of waiting a month+, my babies will be here in 3 days!!!!!! I'm so excited. I haven't had chickens in a few years and I cannot wait!!!!

I ordered Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana chicks from a breeder in November and they are coming this week!

Now that was a LONG wait!

Of course I have been hatching chicks from my Blue Laced Red Wyandottes while I have been waiting

10 more days, 10 more looonnggg days to wait. Which is really silly since I already have a bustle load of 2 week olds in my brooder. But they are not NEW fuzzies! Ten more days.

13 more days arggggggggg this seems forever, still worrying my self sick, don't know if my heart can handle sick or dead babies.
I'm such a softy when it comes to babies. We hunt and I don't have any trouble killing for food in the wild why is it so hard on me if my critters die or even if I raise them for food???
A couple years back we decided to raise a couple pigs, for meat, we even named them with that in mind .....names were Bacon and Sausage LOL thought I would have no problem just try to not get attached, only clean the stall feed and leave. Well let me tell you pigs have quite a personality I never would have believed it, but by the time kill day came I loved those dam stinky pigs, and cried, all day while I processed there meat. I also couldn't eat it without the bitter reality of my sweet piggies on my plate. It was a sour feast, and haven't done it since because It was so awful for me!!
My extra roo's are gonna be freezer fair but I ain't gonna like it. Any suggestions before they get here.
Edited to show I'm so sleepy I don't even know what week it is
