I have chicks coming from Ideal too....shipping on March 2nd! Can't wait! Are the packing peanut chicks always males? I asked them not to include any packing peanuts in my order! Hope they srvive the trip without the extra warmth.

You probably have EVERY idea! I've got 4 weeks to go before I get mine and I'm SO VERY tempted to order a couple more to ship ASAP! I'm SO ready for my "babies" to get here!

We sometimes raise the peanuts to butcher, but this time didn't feel like we had the time or space. I have a friend who will take every rooster chick I give him to provide meat for his family. So I liked the large number of peanuts.

I bet your babies will be fine without "males for warmth." Good luck!

Just a couple of days until our babies ship out. I think the weather will be perfect and warm for the trip...HOPEFULLY

I was in Bryson City, NC to see the Smokey Mountains this weekend. We rented a cabin and had a blast! I got a pic of the prettiest rooster and rustic farm. Now, I'm ready for FUZZY BUTTS!

Yes. I am impatient to get my chicks. I have a long wait and phoo-ey. Have read all the
books and now I am ready. The first set do not arrive until April 3rd or 4th. The baby pics
on the site are driving me nuts. They are fun though.

Ok I admit I might have the chicken addiction bug, I can't sleep for worrying about the babies coming, I ordered from a local hatchery, Purely Poultry, they don't allow pickup which I would have much prefered. Though I'm hoping that seeing they are so close it will only take the day to arrive, after reading several horror stories on dead baby chicks
I'm almost frantic waiting, worrying, waiting......argggggg I'll drive myself crazy before March 23rd, which is just over 2 weeks away. eeeeegads so very long an eternity of waiting.
I'm getting 5 each of Delawares, Buff Orpingtons, speckled sussex, mottled anconas, mixed Wyndottes, Barred Plymouth Rocks. all straight run, the reason there are so many, I need about 15 hens, the rest will be freezerized, most of my roo's. I will keep a couple? not sure about the ratio of hens to roosters? anyone know what that might be. I was think no more than 3 roo's for 15 to 18 hens? is that feasible ?
Anyway I have a million ?'s but haven't figured out just where/what thread to post the questions to. and I've been reading here for weeks already.
I also am the most patient woman on earth when it comes to everything but my Grandson and critters, then everything is an emergency or needs to be here done now>>>>>>>not tomorrow not a darn minute more than absolutely necessary. LOL. My hubby thinks I'm crazier then a pet coon. But so glad he is an understanding man and an animal lover as well he just shakes his head at me and laughs, says calm down and tickles me to get the seriousness out of my face. Is it March 23nd yet?
