Between the hatches for the different classrooms app. 4000 eggs. And another 1000 for grand kids, neighborhood kids and myself. Looks like a total of about 5000 eggs. Sure didn't seem like that many while they were hatching. I am sure it will be many times that this year.
27 eggs total. First hatch 15 eggs...6 chicks....3 roosters had to go. 2nd hatch 12 eggs...6 chicks...5 of them died in tragic accident...now ....4 hens from hatching. Can't wait for spring!

Are you kidding me???? Holy cow! What do you do with 5000 chicks?
As stated under your handle "nothing in moderation".
All of the chicks hatched in the classrooms went home with the students.
I live in area that all the kids want and have farm critters, takes care of another 700 or so. Then there are my grand kids another 100 or so. Then we have fried chicken, roast chicken, chicken soup and so on another 100. The rest is sold or traded.
When you look at it that way it doesn't seem like many.
I keep 9 bators with 36 eggs in each going every month of the school year. Which I had another dozen.
If you have a child or grand child in school, ask the teacher if you can hatch some eggs in their class. The look on the children's faces when they see the baby chicks will make you do it over & over.
You get to hatch all those eggs and not worry about taking care of them.
