In about 2-3 years, I'll be creating a new Breed of chicken called the Emerald Dragon.(Discussion)

This has been a very interesting thread so far. I would really love to see pictures and progress as you go along. I also hearing about other opinions, as I'm a complete noobie with chicken genetics.

On my behalf of my dream project, my breed would probably never breed true with the amount of EE id be using. Lol... But maybe I'll figure out a new path. My breed ultimately is an alternative Faverolle, minus the 5 toes and gentle nature. I just don't want the super poofyness, and want more of a muscular sporty body type, similar to maran/brahma Ameracauna. Then again I don't even know

Maybe you can go Faverolle/Sumatra X Ameracana/Brahma?

I'm unfamiliar with the Sumatra to really know anything. Not sure if I mentioned before my ideas, but mostly use a blue copper maran over EE, or Blue parteidge brahma in the mix, but anything to get the beard and straight comb along with blues, reds and copper colors, with some leg feathering. Leg color doesnt matter, nor egg color so much. Blue, green, or olive would be cool and preferable maybe? My own line of EE's
I should note, I'd want to make a meatier EE for the project, using red ranger roos over my EE hens. Ive produced several already! And they are more breasty and faster growing

I've considered them for different projects, but alot of the ones I find are overly priced, & I can't afford them unless I get a fair offer. I have tons of birds, & have to buy feed 3-4 times a month thanks to all of the turkeys my dad wanted.

I've placed ads on this site looking for Aseel chicks, but came up empty handed.

You did tell me about it, but just suggested that one combo for a sporty body type.

I got up 3 hours ago, so I'm tired, & still waking up.

I'm not against anything you said, but I do think going the pea comb route will be a good idea if my walnut comb idea flops. This breed will be trial, & error, meaning it'll be hard to produce, but I'll be having my sister help me with one side of the project while I work on the other.

She'll be working on the the Brahma/EE half. Making it a somewhat pure bird, only going for the Malay traits of the Brahma, & green eggs of the EE.

Me, I'll be working on the Silkie/Sumatra half, selecting against silkie feathers, polidactyly, crest, & beard.
Black skin, & walnut comb are the two things I want to keep from this breeding, combined with the shiney, black plumage of the Sumatra chicken, long legs, neck, feathers, & multiple spurs. The long tail, hackle, & saddle feathers are also a feature that'll be kept.

From that those two breedings the birds will be bred in the order: Silkie/Sumatra over Brahma/EE hen.

Both sides are modified into a more of a breed then an actual cross since I'll be working on purifying both sides with distinct characteristics.

I'll have to do several more breedings over many generations in order to produce this breed. I'm only simplifying the process.

That makes sense, just keep in mind that there may be a different route that you could take that would get you there faster and more efficiently and save you a lot of time (and therefore money). Also, it will take a long time to get the results you're looking for. I would say probably at least 15-20+ years before you begin seeing something resembling you're ultimate goals. But if you're motivated and dedicated to it, then go for it!
