I raised various breeds of domestic Chickens, Ducks & Geese in the 70s...But then, early in the 80s, I switched over to Quail, Partridge, Pheasants, Grouse, Peafowl, Wild Turkeys,Guineas, Wild Ducks,Geese & Swans...and then Emus. I always kept Ameraucanas as my favorite egg layers. About 8 years ago, I added Ayam Cemanis, French Black Copper Marans, & Icelandics along with my Ameraucanas. I also added Black Francolins, and switched to French Pearl Guinea Fowl. I admit, that raising exotics and even endangered species of birds, became my addiction. I am in the process of downsizing. Taking down pens that I spent time and money building, so my breeds had plenty of room and growth in their environments...is a bit saddening. But I divide my time now teaching in New Mexico and Florida.
