Did you actually mean (twins) that two chicks hatched out of the same egg or just that they all hatched together? Congrats on the chicks, they are lovely little things

Sometimes the yolk splits and that can happen. Usually there isn't, that's why it's a rare occurrence!

I've seen double-yolked eggs, but I had no idea they could actually hatch!

Yes- same egg. I have a new problem now, however. I’m waiting for one more and it’s almost day 23 and I can hear it chirping lightly, but no pip. When is it appropriate to assist?

If you can hear it, then it has internally pipped. Depending on the size of the air cell, internal pips can take around 24 hours before they externally pip. If it gets close to 24 hours, you may consider a tiny safe hole..
