So I took in my neighbors clutch of hatchlings there were 6 last night one passed (I sorta knew the one might ) but 2 of them still have the umbilical type stuff attached. On has lost some but I woke up to the area sorta hard from it drying out alittle so I wet it with some water. Will it be ok and the other is up walking around but its alot more there then the other so I wet it again as well will these 2 be ok with them still healing? What should I do to help them better? (I did not hatch these babies my neighbors mama and 3 other ducklings were killed while the mama was staying with the nest she has free range ducks)

A picture would be helpful, but normally baby chicks can have some left over cord or yolk when they hatch. This drys up and falls off. If you do give a picture, I can look to see if it is possibly something else.

I feel like it's a losing battle keeping the debris off of it but it has gotten nicer looking but I'm not sure if I need to keep it wet or what. This is the 2nd time I've ever dealt with new hatchlings so I'm pretty neat to everything but I remembered this site helped me a ton last yr when I had issues with my ducks
