I don't have chickens yet but I am laying a land use plan out for my property. I am sure I am putting the chicken before the egg (pun intended), but I would like to find some posts here or some other websites that will explain the nutritional requirements of chickens during the various stages of their life. Why do I want to learn this now? I want to be able to set aside some land space for, for example, a building that I can use to sprout seeds for feed, room to raise insects that chickies like to nibble on, etc. So I am hoping to become an expert in chicken nutrtion now to help me with my planning. Also, if you have experience in the same endeavor I would appreciate to hear what you have to say.

I have a book called "The small scale poultry flock" that would probably help start you on your way.
... huh, apparently the book has been updated since I got it. Here's an amazon link

I am not an expert on chicken nutrition. I buy whole grains from my local coop, put this stuff in it: https://www.newcountryorganics.com/poultry-nutri-balancer-10-lb-bag.html
and let my birds free range.

I also give them fermented grains a couple of times a week. My birds seem to be doing well, but there's always room for improvement... And TBH, I'm looking at starting to grow more food for me and the birds. Feel free to keep us updated on your progress, and how it goes for you! I'm super stoked you're taking the time to learn before you get chickens! That's really cool.
