Hi! I am brand-new to raising chickens and realized not long after I got my chicks that they may not be what the feed store said they were. Also I read the hatchery they came from may not be the most reputable. I believe they are 4-5 weeks old and I think I have two Welsummers, three SL Polish (sickly and suffering from failure-to-thrive), one EE (sold to me as an “Americana”), one RHR, and one mottled looking unsexed GL Wyandotte (sold to me as sexed female Black Australorp). I’m looking to see if those in the BYC community are willing to share photos of their chicks of the same breed as mine at various ages (with a description of age and sex) for comparison purposes.
I know it’s too soon to tell the sex on mine so I am not expecting answers for that, but as for breed there are photos online I have seen of chicks that look identical to mine are not the same breed as the ones I think I have!

I don’t have more recent photos as they were all taken on my husband’s phone. I’ll post mine when I can get him to send them to me!

Thanks in advance. If anyone thinks I should move this to a different section of the forums, let me know!

You do not need to move post anywhere else. JMO. You will need to to have some better, more closeup pix of the chicks, and a side view is very helpful.
Most hatcheries do try to post correct info about the chicks.(as well as what they ship) Many problems and mix-ups occur when the chicks are handled/sorted, by the inexperienced employees at retail location. Another possibility and a much probable one is..................... customers handling, and mis-locating the chicks.
When you read enough posts here, on BYC, you will find out that MANY PEEPS got wrong chicks from many places. :old
Another thing about genders..... Certain breeds that are sexlinks, are generally 99.44% correct. Most others are only 93% correct AT BEST when done by EXPERTS. Beginner experts probably WAY LOWER:gig:rant
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and :welcome

Here is my 5 week old “Americana” that I think is an EE. IDK what she could be mixed with. She has the same pattern as my Welsummers that came from the same hatchery.

EEs and Americanas are actually the same breed, different than Ameraucanas which are purebred. This is a very common misconception which I only found out recently, too.
Feed stores often sell their EEs as "purebred" Ameraucanas as well- if you want purebred you have to be very selective of where you buy them. Luckily EEs are known to be sweet and good layers too; if you just want colored eggs for backyard flocks they'll still be fine:)
You're right; your "Australorp" looks just like my GLW did at that age. Good layers but watch out, they can be bossy to their flock mates. :)

This hen looks to be mixed, but may have quite a bit of RIR:idunno
My RIR chick and grew to adult had only reddish feathers. No speckles ether.

Looks like a typical Easter Egger to me. :love
You should be very happy when you get the colored eggs. It is always a surprise as to color. I had 3 ,,,, and each laid a different shade/color. Blue,,, Olive,,, and Pink:thumbsup... BTW my oldest of those 3 lived 11 years.
