In the coop 24/7?

I met someone recently who keeps four hens in a 4' x 4' coop all the time.

He doesn't think it's bad for the birds, says they don't mind it at all. He lets them out to clean the coop and play a bit while he's out in the yard, then puts them back in.

Any thoughts?

if he keeps it very clean, it's okay, but those hens really need a lot more outside time than that... advise him to let them out more or build a run!
