In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

Pics
Glad you don't have to bug out yet Butterscotch ( love your full name by the way )
Just make sure everything is packed and to hand ready to fling into the car, or already in the car so all you need to do is grab the animals.

Don't forget the water!
I have one of those big water containers with a tap on the bottom so we have enough for all our animals and us for a day or two :D. I have a horror of being thirsty ;)

Stay safe and alert...but relaxed ....if possible :) :hugs
Thx I made it when I was feeding my past flock lettuce and butterscotch bit me on my finger. Well may this year my beautiful flock was wiped out and I was so upset as it was two weeks after my dog was put down.

Cool! On being featured!

I haven't figured out how to do multiple quotes so this is gonna seem kinda random unless you've read the whole thread ...

@Zach123, we had a tornado pass through about a mile from us a few years back. I got my elderly MIL, the dog and two cats into the basement and just figured the chickens would either survive or they wouldn't .... it missed us. Sometimes, there's just only so much you can do.

I don't know who said Noah took 2 of furred animals and 7 of each bird into the ark but I was curious and looked it up. He took 2 of each unclean and 7 of each clean animal according to my research. I found that in Genesis 7:2 and I hope that doesn't break the rules here to say so. It's just research.

@Butterscotchbitesfinger , I thought at first you were in California so now I feel a little silly. It's probably not your fires that made our skies orange! :gig But I am really happy to hear your alert has gone down and hope you and your chookies - and your family - stay safe!

I watched the saddest

Wow Zach, we had a mini tornado f1? in our area once, it started in my yard while I was in the yard, it started small, but was really tight, then it lifted 2 pullet hens they went 60 feet in the air, but ended up being okay, then the tornado went about 1/2 mile over to a swimming pool with people in it, tossed their towels and sucked water into the funnel like a water spout. One lady in the pool as it was happening she ducked under water.

Like many others in more rural areas we only have 1 road in & out & our best shelter spot if caught out is on the point but access has been blocked by a gated wire fence. I must ask round for who has bolt cutters...:hmm
Good Point! Take a basic tool kit with you. You never know when you'll need it.

Ok I apologise if this is in the wrong section but I couldn’t decide where’s to post this. I have 7 hens and a rooster, I live in nsw Australia. It is catastrophic fire conditions down here featuring hot winds and dry grass and already crazy fires. This doesn’t just apply to me but I’m almost certain multiple other families all over the world are thinking the same things I am. If we have to evacuate tomorrow how do we move the animals? In particular the chickens. Rabbits and guinea pigs are easy as are the horses and dogs but the chickens. How long can they sit in a car? Where are suggestions of places we can move them? You see our friends with property May and possibly are under the same conditions. This could apply to all sorts of natural disasters. But in particular my situation is bad because we have a under control bush fire burning not 50 k’s away from us....
Thanks in advance for your response.
The easiest way I have heard is to burrito wrap them up in towels, then they are totally stackable and portable.
