In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

My plan only calls for a 20 mile transport. Then I pop out a lawn chair throw some treats and the little buggers will always be underfoot. That trip only takes 25 minutes and I wouldn't recommend more than 2 deep, and kitchen size towels not beach towels. In order to preserve lives and livestock it seems very reasonable to me vs leaving them in a pen/paddock to drown or burn, or even structural failure of my coop from high wind. Additionally, beans and rice for emergency rations....A dead chicken might improve our lives with 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 20 chicken to save.

@aart had a great idea regarding having a pen, now I am thinking I can use my 50 ft ish of unused hardware cloth/or wire fencing so that goes on the list to evacuate with while in that parking structure.
I've never done it, and it looks like a bad idea to me, especially the comment about stacking them. Dead squished birds on the bottom? I just wouldn't try it.

I know it’s been a few weeks but now we actually have a problem. There are multiple fires burning in the ridges parallel to my house. I can see the orange hue that comes off fire. But they are expecting the fire to reach the suburb next to mine by tonight. And Tuesday is supposed to get up to 43 C fires are being deliberately lit now. Sorry I wouldn’t revive this thread if I didn’t think it was necessary

i was wondering how you were getting on.

I think all the fires are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

We have got a few bad ones down this way too.

It is unbelievable how fast these fires are moving.

least we have some back up, the Canadians arrived yesterday and the Americans arrived today.

stay safe and look after yourself

Please, Please, PLEASE - ALL of you facing this mess, no matter what continent you're on, DON'T wait until the last minute to get out of harm's way. Keep yourselves, and as many of your animals as you can, SAFE. And remember that, no matter how precious your animals are to you, YOU are the most important. YOU are the only who can rebuild, should it come to that. Everything else, as painful as it is to admit - is replaceable.
Reinforced prayers are winging their way to you from all over the world. May they continue to hold and protect you and yours throughout this ordeal.
