In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

Butterscotch -- Sorry to hear about your losses. The rain is excellent news, though! Glad to hear about it, and just as glad to hear that you're safe.
I agree that keeping this thread alive to talk about what's happening in Australia is a good idea. The more people who are aware of the situation over there, the better.
Stay safe, everyone!

@BDutch, don't apoligise you are most welcome here. All sides of the fence are welcome. I have many friends who believe in prayer, and many who don't. What matters is you are all thinking about us in our time of need :hugs.

I also urge you to all take caution to listening to the side stories (peoples personal stories) about this from the media. They are hell bent on selling a story and experts at twisting words. We saw alot of this happen when they were all out this way a year or so ago trying to cover the drought. We all stopped talking to them because while we were trying to give hope and support to our fellow farmers struggling they kept cutting all that out and dropping sentences to make it all doom and gloom. Tragedy sells.

Yep. Thanks @Sapphire Sebright

@Manhen -- That must be one sturdy barn! Good luck in advance with the tornadoes this year, by the way.
I don't know what I'd do for my poultry if a tornado hit. Given how fast they come on, I would probably just stay inside and hope for the best. Thankfully, tornadoes seem to be pretty rare up here in New England, and where I live, we're surrounded by tall pine trees.

Prayers continue from the US' East Coast, as well. I DO believe in their power, even if it's only enough to give us strength to "get through."
Yup. He said the smoke isn’t to bad. But we have lost 2 hens and 2 chicks and a guinea pig to the heat. But the chickens may have been lost to a predator.
So Sad!!! I guess the predators are on the move, too and they grab what the can whenever they can. Fingers crossed that your biddies are just good hiders! :fl
