In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

Pics
Hi everyone. My family and I just got back from a bushfire meeting, the fire will Be here possibly by Thursday. We are moving my horse to a safer location tomorrow possibly depending on if they have room or not which should free up more space. It’s really frightening, the wind is against us at the moment, I have had to cancel my friend coming over on the weekend due to terrible conditions and for safety reasons. This fire is just going everywhere! They aren’t trying to stop it anymore, it’s just to big to contain. My heart aches for the wild life. I’m getting cardboard boxes tomorrow ready for my chickens with their babies as I don’t think they will all fit in the dog crate. This fire is unlike any they have ever seen before. I have to be extremely diligent with getting out before roads close. This fire is almost in the valley behind my grandparents house. They aren’t saying we will definitely get embers down here but they are saying there’s a high chance.
I will keep you posted.

I am so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you are well prepared. These fires are unbelievable, it just seems like there is no end to them.

Just remember your life is more important than anything else, houses can be rebuilt, your life can’t be replaced.

Please take care, update when and if you can.

Yeah. They are saying that basically worst case scenario the fire will Be here Thursday. Best case scenario it will be here Saturday.

The difficulty with moving everyone is that all my friends are at risk too. The people who may be taking the horse are a horse stud and don’t have facilities for chickens and other pets. Plus they aren’t super close friends of ours.
In these circumstances, we are ALL friends and neighbors! Other than sending strength and prayers - which are both "givens" - is there anything we can do to help?

Good on you @Butterscotchbitesfinger for being so prepared. It's great that you found a place for your horse, they are kind of hard to shove in the back of the car...;).

Take care tomorrow. I hope the fire by passes you :fl. Thanks for keeping us updated, apart from letting us know you're safe I'm finding it helpful too. I'm sure it will be our turn soon enough...:(

Thanks. We have watermelon all ready to go for tomorrow. I have been ringing around and nowhere has any room for chickens! My rabbits and guinea pigs should be easy to move. As should the dogs. It’s just these chickens :he part of me wonders if they would find safety by themselves... but then an even bigger part of me says “no all your animals are to accompany you if you leave”
