In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

It is! But cool change coming here at lunch time. If you haven't seen about the storms down south, that took down 6 large power towers, this is your friendly reminder PEG DOWN THE TRAMPOLINES, SWING SETS, LAWN FURNITURE, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WILL FLOAT AWAY. If you are in the red thunderstorm zone. Today is the first day we have had a 90% chance of rain in 12 months. I hope it finds all of you. As much as I hate storms, it is the best way to give the earth a drink. Love the playpen idea! Do you have puppy training pads? Will make clean up a breeze

No but it’s canvas on the bottom and fully enclosed

We had to bring our entire flock inside today, we lost a silkie hen to the heat and almost list our Sussex. Everyone is currently inside. How are you and your pets? Are you fire safe?

My girls were all panting. They had watermelon and iceblocks and I hosed over the top of their favourite bush. Thank goodness we have a bit of a cool change and rain now. :yesss:

It’s going to be another hot one today folks, stay cool and keep your animals cool. This morning we are buying a big enclosed play pen for our chickens to be brought inside

I like the playpen idea. Do you have a link for it Butterscotch?

I was thinking of putting my girls in the bathroom where it is cooler with an old sheet on the floor.

We ended up going down to buy it from Kmart only to find Kmart didn’t have it so we used Wilbur (our puppy) old playpen with a sheet on the ground. This playpen was not an enclosed one, it was just the metal yard type thing.

I've got a couple of those puppy yards with fence panels. So handy in the chook yard! I put them around young trees to protect them from the hens.

Thanks Butterscotch. I have a couple of those to close of sections of the garden to "rest".

I never thought of using them indoors. 👍
