On the subject of photos that didn't turn out as expected- This is a cell phone shot I took at dawn last winter. Rome airport, through the tinted window of a moving shuttle bus.

Interesting. The color makes it stand out but you also have the wet ground reflection, the reflections off the planes, actual lens flares, lens flares off the window an what looks like as flash reflecting off the glass. If it was still the days of film an someone described this setup to me I would tell them it was as bad of a shot as it gets an tell them to not waste the film. I would have been wrong cause that is a great shot.

Most of that is correct, but no flash off the glass. I almost never use flash with phones or digital cameras. I think the tinted glass of the window filtered the colors and intensified things. It was a beautiful scene, but very different to my eyes from what the camera caught.

As to "wasting film", it took me years to adjust to the different way of shooting with digital, because I was always very careful with film to select the photos and self edit in advance of pushing the trigger.
