Wonder how old the tallest cactus are?

I wonder about those things too. What was happening in this world when they first started growing.

Interestingly, Saguaro can live to be over 200 years old, but nobody really knows how old because unlike trees, they don't have growth rings to count.The older, taller, heavier cactus usually topple over under their own weight, so the best guesses are 2-300 years old. Saguaro grow very slowly. They may not even be 2 inches tall after 10 years! Generally speaking they don't grow their first arm until they've been around 50 years or so, but after that there doesn't seem to be a pattern on how many arms or how often. They typically top out in the 40-45 foot range around 150 years old, but there are well documented specimens over 70 feet tall.
