Reb what's the best way to dispose of a very old, unused kitchen fire extinguisher?

I am probably the wrong person to ask cause I would set it in the field an shoot it with a rifle.

If its the old refillable kind I would see if the local FD wants to have it for training. If its a small "walmart" kind I would spray it once in the back yard then let it set for a few days to let the gas leak out the now dirty valve. Once it leaks out you can throws in in the trash.
