Yes, once a year. That was the first time I saw it at it's best. Usually they wilt before we notice it's bloomed. It was overcast. That might have made the difference.

Seems I've heard of a cactus that blooms once every hundred years. Might have been a tall tale.

Seems I've heard of a cactus that blooms once every hundred years. Might have been a tall tale.

I remember the house by our school bus stop had a giant agave plant out front. It was called a century plant. Takes a long time for them to bloom, but not a hundred years.

I did some quick research and there is a plant called Queen of the Andes that can take 80-100 to produce a bloom.
