REmember, no tax increased for people making under 200.000 per year. Now they are talking about more tax on gas. Guess people making under 200,000 dont need to drive. Want to add the taxes while the gas price is down. Remember share the wealth, oh forgot they want to raised SS tax max. from 100,000 to 200,000. Sound like thats more tax on people making under 200,000. The goverment will have all of us below the poverty level
As near as I can tell, the money flow between oil and gas at the pump goes like this:
1. Crude pumped out of ground by horrible corrupt dictator of choice (House of Saud, Hugo Chavez, etc.). The dictators get together and decide how much they can fleece us for in a big OPEC meeting, and the US says, "Oh, OK." China and India say, "Hey, wait a minute!" Europe shrugs, "Whatever, we've got public transportation anyways." OPEC dictators drive home in their fleet of Bentleys, laughing all the way.
2. Crude is shipped to American refineries, owned by oil companies. Oil company pays the agreed-upon extortion rate set by OPEC, then fractionates the crude as needed.
3. ???? Nothing but funny numbers and hand-waving, because no matter what the price at the pump vs. price of crude, they always post "record profits" to shareholders. I think Bernie Madoff's evil twin cooks their books, seriously.
4. Gas station franchises purchase the refined stuff for $1.75/gallon from the oil company. They post a sign that says, "$1.80/gallon" (ignoring taxes for the moment). Gas station franchise owners generally don't make much money.

ditto. But I refuse to have another kid to get all the freebies.
Unlike an old friend of mine that now has 4 kids and lives in a BRAND new home in Lexington MA(NOT CHEAP) that is paid for by the government. I dont talk to her much. Just ticks me off.
For purposes of collecting entitlements the Federal guideline is 10,400 dollars for 1 person, add 3600 for each addtl person. So you have to make under those figures to qualify. So a family of 3 would have to earn under 17,600.
They want to raise the gas tax because our consumption has gone down so much. Gas tax pays for roads. We need roads to get to work and transport goods.
Raising the limit on fica deductions is necessary to keep it afloat. I know we should all be allowed to invest our money in wall street instead. Good thing that one didn't go through.
