Solved Inconsistent alerts for watched threads

Sometimes when I connect to BYC, I'll see a number next to Alerts showing watched threads with new content or other events. Other times, I've clicked on the Watched Threads link which displays 1+ watched threads with new content, but it doesn't show up under Alerts. I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to this behavior.

I did try unwatching all of my watched threads and re-watching those I still wanted to follow, but am still getting this behavior.

I'm using the latest Firefox on Linux, but I don't believe that is relevant.

I was just wondering myself why I am getting alerts for some watched threads and not getting them for the same watched threads at different times.
(Does that even make sense)

Example:
Granny's thread.
I will receive an alert that someone quoted my post in that thread.
Then five minutes later I will receive an alert someone posted in it.
I will check the thread and read the quote and the new post...then head over to a different thread.
Abut 1o minutes later with NO alerts I stop back in Granny's thread and there are 50 new posts in that thread, that I never received alerts for.

(Does my explanation make better sense?)

I have every box checked to receive alerts too.
