I had a feed store close to work order good grade DE for me. They knew what I was talking about, asked if I was putting it in food, blah blah blah.

I checked the bag and it says "For: Insulation," etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it is the incorrect DE. Just want to get a confirmation before I take it back.

You need it to say "food grade" or something to the effect that it's acceptable for human consumption. It is also known as fossil shell flour. There may be more than one brand, but the one I've seen/used is called "Perma-Guard".

There are several grades of DE that are not safe to use as dewormers, some are ok for use on external parasites, some you want to use only for the purpose listed on the package (fire ant killer, swimming pool filtration, etc).

I can't swear to it but it's sounds wrong. Hope they take it back without too much grief.

The 50# bag I special-ordered says "chemical codex food grade" right on it. It's an industrial-looking bad and made by perma guard.... I'm also pretty sure they got the wrong stuff.....
