Incubating and hatching

I had a batch of eggs that went on lockdown. I’m having trouble figuring out what the issue is! The first group of eggs that went in a little while ago only 4 made it with being assisted.
Each egg made it to lockdown but never internally or externally pipped, it’s like they didn’t even attempt to hatch, and then pass on day 28-29.. as i opened the egg to see what went wrong they all still had this big yellow part which i assume is the yolk they usually need to absorb but it wasn’t. I’m trying to avoid that for my next group. I’ve looked online to try to find answers but nothing the humidity has been around 70-75% last 3 days for hatching, temperature has stayed the same at 99.5 degrees. Any ideas as to what the issue could be?

Unsure as to what it could be i have tried everything that i have looked up but i also don’t think it could all be because there too weak

Sorry to hear about your hatching problems! Do you have a separate calibrated thermometer in your incubator to make sure your incubator is the right temp?

I do! I have 2 different ones and all are reading the same!

Ok! That’s good. What about the humidity during the incubation?

Are all the eggs from the same flock of ducks ?

What is your humidity the first 21 days? Where are the eggs from? What type of ducks?

During incubation I’ve kept it about 60-65% humidity sometimes it goes a little higher depending on water temperature. (My first time incubating eggs this year so i tried reading everything possible about it but seen so many different things) If you mean from the same breeding pair then yes but they were given to us so I’m unsure if there related if that’s what your meaning

One possibility is that the eggs are not loosing enough moisture during incubation. This would cause the air sacks to not be large enough for the hatching progress. I personally would keep the humidity between 30-50 the first 21 days.
If all the eggs are from the same duck genetics could also be an issue.

The first batch the humidity stayed around 40-55% humidity max and that’s the group where out of 17 eggs only 4 hatched but needed assisting. Is there any other thing you could think of that could cause them to make it so far without hatching? (One that i seen passed on day 29 with the first group we opened up and seen it still had a massive amount of yellow with veins on it which i assume to be the yolk) it’s sad it’s just like none are trying to hatch but get so close

It’s possible it could be a genetic or nutritional with the parents. I’m not sure. What are you feeding the parents?

I’d be inclined to think the temperature is too low but if your thermometers are calibrated (did you test them yourself?) that should not be the problem.
