Incubating Button Quail Eggs

Have had a bunch of 'weird' pets.
Had a tokay gecko once.
All kinds of aquariums/terrariums with fish, newts, turtles, frogs, etc.
Had a pet praying mantis for a few weeks.
My brother had an iguana when I was really little.
Finches, parakeets, cockatiels...dogs and cats.
Now one dog and chickens.
Have a pond of sorts out back.
There are still insects in jars all over the house...hehe.
Never kept snakes tho.

Just realized I took new pictures and never posted them

I'm really curious what color that light one to the side is in this one:

Well I found out the hard way today that they can now fly out of their ten gallon aquarium. After a rescue of the escapees a lid has now been put on the aquarium.

I about had a heart attack when I went to refill their food and saw only four quail in there instead of seven! Luckily the escapees were all together and not hard to find and catch.

And the heart attack continues. Just saw one of the escapees acting weird and realized in its grand exploration it had managed to get a piece of hair wrapped and tangled around its leg. Had to get that off or it would have cut the circulation off and it would have lost the foot. That was some very delicate work with scissors, let me tell you.

Oh the fun of teeny babies, keeping you on your toes! One of the first ones we had to raise (their mother abandoned them when the eggs started pipping) ended up with a slipped hock - I originally thought it was just splayed leg so tried to strap it, but she would always manage to wriggle free no matter what sticky strapping we used which meant we had to try and get it off her good leg where it was still stuck firm. (I fully expected her to die because I'd read leg injuries were generally fatal in Buttons but she lives on and has even raised babies).

Now if I put her on straw she gets the finer pieces tangled around her legs - our first lot of straw must've been coarser so we didn't have a problem but since then it's just shavings for her. So I know all about delicate scissor work where little legs are concerned!

Hi! Sorry to jump in, I’m on day 15 of my button and Coturnix quail eggs! Finding it so hard to stay away from the incubator even now! I keep looking for wobbles, nothing yet :’(

It is hard not to hover over the incubator, waiting for something to happen. I do it too. I've only once had wobbling eggs so you might not see that. That was one batch of Coturnix - my Buttons have never wobbled. Good luck! Hope you hatch lots of little cuties.
