Calls can actually be quite difficult to hatch! Assistance is often needed! Is this time your first time or have you hatched Calls before?

Yes, it is my first time hatching call duck eggs. I have hatched many chicken and quail eggs with great success! Any tips for hatchibg call duck eggs?

Hatching call ducks is very different than chickens or quail and even othe duck eggs... they have super short beaks so a lot of times they need assistance hatching as many can't even pip externally... I suggest reading through Sally Sunshine's thread

Even though it is mostly for chickens, there is a good section on assisting and many links you might find helpful...

Also search for either the 'Call ducks have finally hatched' or 'Da cute and cuddly call ducks' thread and post on them for more experienced hatchers advice... there are many people on both threads that have lots of call egg hatches and are always willing to give advice...

Yes, they are very different from chicken eggs. My fourth clutch for the season is on day one of incubation. As far as tips, I would recommend always keeping a close eye on the temp and humidity throughout. Lockdown is day 23 and the babies should be candled right before. Those who have internally pipped will need a safe hole after 24-48 hours IF and ONLY if no progression to an external pip has been made. Assistance too early can be fatal, although assistance too late can be fatal also. There's often a judgement call that has to be made with these little ones. They're so rewarding though. And, they're the sweetest and cutest ducks ever! I wouldn't trade mine for any other duck! I love my Call ducks dearly!

Thank you! I will see how it goes! A good humidity for hatchibg is 65 percent? I have a forced air incubator, so the temperature is always 99.5 F.

Yes, humidity at lockdown should be between 60-65%... good luck and hope all goes well! Just post again if you need help...

Okay, my eggs are back on their sides and I am hand turning them again. So far they look really good! Day 16 today! When I candled them, I could see them kicking their feet. That was so cool!
