Hi everyone..
I am knew to trying to hatch eggs in a incubator. And my kids have set their heart on cull duck eggs... I have read that they are difficult to hatch... but any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Also I keep reading different temps can someone confirm who has had success in hatching them what temp you had the incubator at? And humidity temp please?
Many thanks

I think you mean Call duck eggs and not cull duck eggs - ducks that are going to be culled are a whole different thing :p

They are harder to hatch if you buy eggs from parents that are good representations of the breed and conform to the breed standard. That's because a good Call duck has a very short beak and neck, which makes it very hard for them to pip and zip. Thus, they often need help to hatch.

If, however, you buy eggs from some that aren't as good representations of the breed, and have larger, longer beaks, longer necks, and are just larger in general, then they have an easier time hatching. But they still might need a little help.

Other than that, they are pretty similar to normal duck eggs, aside from hatching sooner - they hatch it 26 days compared to the 28 days it takes a large fowl duck to hatch.

Since you're new to incubating, you might find this beginner's guide helpful, and since you're looking at hatching a breed that will likely need help to hatch, here's the assisted hatching guide for all poultry.
