Incubating Duck Eggs for the First Time...

I am spritzing mine because I am in a very dry climate and having a really hard time keeping the humidity over 40%.

It's a test batch, so if I don't get ducks I wont freak out.

So if your humidity is fine, do you still need to mist? From what I'm gathering the misting is done to to supplement humidity and is otherwise not going to hurt or help the eggs.

I want to try hatching duck eggs again. My first time I set 42 eggs (not at the same time) and had 10 hatch. The only directions I had were the one that came with my hovabator. Didn't use it all last year. I really wouldn't know how to answer your question. Good Luck on the hatch tho.

Thanks all! I'll keep you posted on how these guys do. I set them Sat. night so

Guess what? I just candled my eggs. It is Day 7.....

I HAVE VEINING!!!!

And these IIIIITTTTTTYYYY BBBBBIIITTTTTYYYYY duck embryos floating around in there!!!!!

I set 6 eggs and ALL 6 are developing. One is tinier than the rest, so I don't hold a lot of hope for that one, but I am really surprised I have all 6 developing.

GO JACK!

I don't think misting them hurts the eggs, but it does a number on the incubator! The one I was using with my last batch decided to die around day 8-10ish. I moved them all, but it was too late for most of them. From about 20 eggs, I had 6 live hatches, and 2 of those died. After the bator dried out it was just fine.
