WOOHOOO!! We made it

I also picked up my 8 Bantam Cochin eggs from a local breeder(Blue,buff and Mille Fleur) and those are under my broody now...due to hatch Aug 14th!!!! So excited!!!!

Yeah for broodies.

I set some eggs on July 20th. I expect them to hatch on the 9th.
I set one from each of my laying LF hens.
I don't know what I'm going to do with the chicks....

I candled this morning b/c I was up before everyone else; they're all developing

There is always room for more or share them with a friend. I'm considering selling them at the feed store in town. I'll probably just figure something out. I'll use my cooler-bator as a brooder until I can get a mini coop built/put together for the Orpington pair and deconstruct and re-construct my original juvenile pen/coop for the Banty chicks....
Yeah, I'll probably just figure something out....."always room for one more" or up to five more.

It is harder to be strong when the incubator is sitting across the livingroom from you and you have to hand turn the eggs five times a day and of course, being a good mother hen, I have to check the temp like all the time....

I did it!!! We have lots of wigglies!!!! Yeah!

I am disappointed in my silkies. Out of 17, 13 were clear. I believe they said they have a new roo in the pen so he will like to know his ratio. Pulled 4 out of 8 buttercups, 3 out of 16 Spanish, 3 out of 18 Pheonix and only one of the backyard banties as they were too dark for me to get a good look.

I still have a 11 to candle Monday or Tuesday. Who am I kidding - Monday.
