If she stops sitting on them can you transfer them to your lock down inc.? Or is that a no-no...

So ending the day and still no sign of the other 2 eggs hatching under my broody Peep...I am dying to know what's going on under there :barnie Maybe when I wake up the 2nd egg that looked like it was at the same point of development will hatch????? At least in a bator you can peek in the window and see what's happening....LOL!!! Not with a broody :he Momma Peep and her new baby :love
Baby Peep is quite loverly!

Thankfully I have a couple of days for the bator eggs until lockdown! This baby was supposed to hatch AFTER my lockdown group so dates on the eggs must have been wrong...got them from a local breeder

Now I just don't know about the other eggs, dates, hatching??? YIKES!!!!! I didn't want my broody to raise one chick by itself, but guess I really don't have a say, huh? LOL

If you have anything else that hatches, she might let you add the other chicks. Some will let you, some won't.

Yep, TUESDAY last official candle day! :celebrate

how are your eggs coming along?

I have 10 babies. One we had to assist, it was one I had marked because the air sac was on the side not the end. The bird from that egg is very small and weak. We have him/her in the ICU unit with another one that took a header out of my wives hands. He is doing fine, we just wanted to have the weak one have company. I have 1 more pecked. I hear no peeping. And the rest are doing nothing.
I had 3 I thought had birds not hatch and one I thought was junk hatched.

All in all I am happy with the way it went considering how late in the season it is for pheasants. However, looking at it like others would a 25% hatch stinks...

Thanks! Hopefully she will let me add the new chick s! I really wanted her to raise them all!

I have a turkey hen that always takes babies broody or not.. She is a little strange. I can have her pack a bag and start hitch hiking west if you need her services....

Weirdest hen alive, will take chicks away from other hens and raise them as her own. Then when she sets on her eggs, she has her "babies" set around her and keep her company.. Of course she does not have the patience to set on a nest for more than about a week.
