Has anyone ever incubated the eggs inside of the carton without the top being cut off & it closed, in other words just put the eggs in the carton close it & put it in the bator, will this work ? anyone ever done this ?

I'd worry about ventilation. Even using the bottom part of an egg carton I was advised to cut out most of the bottom to allow for more "breathe-ability" so I think with the carton left intact, there would be too much risk of suffocation. I'll be interested to hear what others think though.

I agree. I would think that there needs to be some air circulation around the eggs. Also, I would be afraid of moisture condensation inside the carton and "drowning" the chick. Just my two cents worth.

Ok, that's what I thought. but I dont ever cut the bottom off of the carton, & they do very well, that's with a fan running all the time.

i am wondering about temps i know how to do the humid. i just got a little giant 9200 fan and egg turner i have 4 merc thermometers and one idgital therm with humid 3 read at 100 the other 2 read 98 do you just round this and hope for the best?

do you have a turner?

use the racks instead of cartons .

I have tried both and both works

I have lost chicks without the cartons , because other chicks will roll the eggs and turn them over when pecking the shell

is your call

try half and half

and compare results
