Incubating in my bra

I don't like to use it for living creatures. I think it works better for the inanimate. English is a bit of an outlier since we don't have a true 'neuter' pronoun. I could use the Swedish 'hen' but that'd be EXTRA confusing 'round these parts.
I agree, I don't like using "it" for living creatures. I typically just call them "buddy" or "peeper". If I have to choose I always call them "she", positive thinking! Oh look, I just used "them" twice!

Hi guys!
So because of lockdown here I don’t have anything else to do than...incubating an egg in my bra 😆
I tried this spring, but all the eggs I tried with were infertile. Now, I know it is fertilized!
It’s a quail egg, I got my first blue one so I wanted to incubate it just for fun. I do have an incubator, but it’s just an experiment I want to do during lockdown/quarantine.
The egg is there for now almost 48h.Should hatch on January 24th-25th.
Will keep you guys updated! I candle it to see if he’s alive Sunday! Yay!!
I read about incubating in your bra so I tried it with a newly hatched Silkie that lost its yolk sack. It worked for keeping the baby warm. But the baby could only drink water but could not swallow soft food. It died after 3 days. But I consider it a success for warmth.

I hate to be a downer on this lovely Sunday, with temps finally reaching high enough to break us out of the freeze, but my little lone quail, who I gave the name Reggie the 3rd, has passed away. It's not too surprising...they didn't make any progress over night to this morning...nothing I did seemed to pep them up. They could barely lift their head and never tried to stand. For them to fight so hard and make it out only to slip away like this was hard to watch, but at least they won't be lonely any more. I'm sad, but such is the nature of life.

Aww, poor thing. I'm sorry that you lost him. :hugs
