Would love to try this someday. Have you seen the Isabel Ameraucana? It’s not recognized. Cross of self blue & Wheaton! One of my faves!

No way!!! I am so sorry!! Hatching is so stressful!! I have 2 chicks I am so grateful for. The whole lockdown I was freaking out and when they hatched I couldn’t believe it. When people would ask how many hatched and I’d say 2 (out of 14) they would look at me like I did terrible & I’m like no you have no idea how hard it is to hatch these from shipped eggs! I always say they were from the 2 free eggs😂😂😂

I have eggs coming that I will just keep the hens for colorful eggs. They ship 6/24. I’m curious to see how well they hatch. Black copper maran, lavender Orpington, olive egger & Silverudd blue isabar, plus 6 more LA. This will be interesting.
I hatched Marans last month quite successfully, also shipped eggs, that's why these ameraucanas are so puzzling. Marans are also tricky to hatch as far as I understand from others, all 7 that went to lockdown hatched. I had 9 to start with, one was an early quitter and one was infertile. I kept two of them and sold the rest. Hope they are female, excited for the dark chocolate eggs! :)
Good luck with all your eggs!

I’m in the ABC Ameraucana Breeders Club. If you go on the website you can find reputable breeders & Paul announcer he may have more self blue available due to the cooler weather!
Thanks!
I wrote to about 20 breeders on their list. Most will not even try to ship eggs to Hawaii!

SO Egg number 9 has passed... Looked great day 11 and now at day 13 is an early quitter. Was the last egg out the dozen I started with. I am giving up on the self blue for now (And our family motto is Never give up!). Someone just posted on Craigslist here on The Big Island that they have blue/black/splash pullets for sale, so I am going to buy a few!
Good luck to you both @Shellybob and @LavinmyBasket!!!!!! :love

From Harrison's Fowl Farm in Texas. Awesome communication and she made the effort of getting a permit for Hawaii, which most breeders do not want to bother with!:love
That was awesome of her to do that! Which island do you live on? I’ve stayed at Waikiki beach & kaanapali beach. That was a very long time ago. Someday I hope to return!
