I have only candled six eggs, and that was just now. Watching two of them wiggle, squirm and dance all over the place was so awesome! I think it's the candler! So great! Three of the others are moving as well, but not like those two!

I will be expanding my coop tomorrow, but it won't be that big ordeal that others go through. I have a 12 x 12 building, that is one half chicken coop and the other half has a movable wall. Right now the wall is 6 feet back with the ducks behind it. I will move it two feet forward, and open the door between the ducks and the chickens. I have to figure out a ramp into the chicken pen, and out into their run (the chicken pen is elevated). That shouldn't be a big deal. The fun part is going to be doing a complete clean out of the duckpen. Then being sure everyone is okay. The drake isn't overly randy, and has never gone after a hen while free ranging.
Assuming this works, it'll make my life a lot easier. Especially on the cold nights. The ducks will be warmer, drier, and (I hope) happier.

as for the ducks, my Muscoveys bunk with my EE's and OE's all winter in the same coop and run. no issues here! but then again, the muscovey breed does roost, so they do have a position in the pecking order, and they are not at the top of it

I am planning to attempt my second hatch ever in March in a round metal bator, similar to the Brower model. This is a still-air model and for my first hatch I manually turned the eggs. I'd love to be able to further stabilize the temps by using an auto egg-turner in it. Has anyone every tried using one, like this, in a round Brower-style incubator? I still need to measure to be sure it would fit, but it's 15" by 15" so I think it would. Are there some reasons why this would be a bad idea?
