Just to be sure, that IS a blood ring, and the chick is dead, correct?
I didn't want to say it, but I think it is. It usually dips a little lower, but I don't see veins coming off of it, so it looks like blood pooling. Sorry, MC...

I am planning to attempt my second hatch ever in March in a round metal bator, similar to the Brower model. This is a still-air model and for my first hatch I manually turned the eggs. I'd love to be able to further stabilize the temps by using an auto egg-turner in it. Has anyone every tried using one, like this, in a round Brower-style incubator? I still need to measure to be sure it would fit, but it's 15" by 15" so I think it would. Are there some reasons why this would be a bad idea?
I'm eager to hear responses to this.

won't fit without making it fit I have one and tried but the LG brand is to big and didn't want to cut on the turner some where I have pictures of that thing .

Well, you know I am sorry, but I am more okay than I though I'd be (keep in mind that this hatch has emotional baggage for me).
It really is just the way it goes. A complete loss of all eggs would be devastating this time around. I don't see it happening though. I just succeeded in getting a video of a wiggler. Not great, so I am not putting it on Yout ube (I have gotten into you tube the last few days). I did candle another egg though. According to the thermometers, the temps in that incubator are more varied than usual. I saw moving in one that is supposedly in a cold pocket.
@Sally Sunshine Do you want pictures of the dead one? What about the porous one?

. Sunshine on you today and bring a few smiles?

After viewing Sally's mic stand candler and seeing the proper way to candle, we rigged up a flashlight to a music stand. This is a 320 lumen light with the lens removed so it makes a good seal.

This one looks very clear, but there is a dark speck moving where the arrow is. This one we left in the incubator.

I ended up taking out 3 eggs that were clear - one easter egger and 2 BCM. I suppose there could have been life in the BCMs I removed, but they were very suspect and the bator was a little over crowded.

The air cells have not changed much, and I started with very fresh eggs so the air cells are small. I did not weigh eggs before starting (oops) - but at least I marked an air cell. I took the plug out so I wouldn't forget. I plan to candle at day 10 and see what to do from there. My hygrometer did not arrive - but the humidity is currently at the very low end on the "incubation range" for my incubator.

what kind of glass work?? got pics?

How long does it usually take for an egg to hatch? It has been about 4.5 hours from when I found them pipped and nothing has changed.

Pips and ZIPS ARE NOT THE SAME PATIENCE is a MUST!

stable room temps is always best to keep the bator stable..... find the best location for this.

ADDING a turner isnt going to stable temps

try adding med size sterile pebbles too
