I AM.LEAVING THEM ALONE.I am only opening the lid barely barely barely every other day to add water.

You wouldn't have to open the lid at all if you rigged a funnel or syringe on a length of tubing & filled it through a vent hole in the lid

Caught up with the thread again! Was distracted with the Old Farmer's Almanac garden planner app and lost a few hours.

+1. @chicken hawk 33 this is what I use. I ordered it online, but you can pick these up (dosing syringes) at most drug stores. Just add a short piece of airline tubing, and you're good to go!
