I borrowed one.

I don't know any brands.
I made a killing cone from metal flashing and pop rivets that hang on a post over the compost. Insert my sharpest knife near the neck bone and draw it forward to cut the jugular.

Sounds like bumblefoot. Does she limp?
The newest technique is to soak the foot in a hot Epsom salt bath a couple times a day. Then apply a CEH ointment. That's calendula, Echinacea and hypericum.

The foot pad gets scratched and gets a staph infection.

Right no
I like to cook and am pretty good at it. Probably cause I like to eat so much.

I always did the cooking when my wife and I were dating. We were already married when I found out she was a great cook.
My daughter can barely boil water but my son can cook anything.
He's been at every station in over 10 different kinds of restaurants - prep, fry, grill,  sauté, line, pizza, salad, executive chef and kitchen manager.
I taught him everything I know. :gig
Now he teaches me.
Right now I'm eating some spicy goat curry in a akeya rice and bean medley I made.
I need to grill up some oxtail today to make some soup.
Thanks for your response :-D
Sadly I believe it is bumble foot. Do you think I should cut it open and clean it out or try to apply the newer treatment? I haven't done it yet. She doesn't spear to be limping but we have a lot of hay and stuff and she well we used to joke age burrowed and she's got tunnels under the nest boxes she hides in. She's not a fan of hanging with the others as much... So of all the birds to get hurt I can see it being her. I'm going to soak it in the morning. I haven't yet because I cannot find the Epsom salt and we have to go get it... I was thinking soak then clean out, peroxide and then once it's done some neosporine and bandages and just watch it but I'm all for other oils or something if someone can give advice for where to get it... I prefer not to cut it but I think it does need to come out... Looks painful but it's not in a spot that I think makes walking dreadful. Can I put Manuka honey on a chicken ?

We have 3 new chicks just hatched and one that might be out by now. Ones an olive egger (Barnie/olive egger) and 3 are from the coop with an orp and rock over Sussex and rock over dom & rock so one of those lol. A couple look lighter so that'll be fun and there are a bunch more eggs a couple blue, a few green, a Barnie if it's developed and a bunch of those mixes! I hope they do well! Will get pics soon it's so hot here I could die yuck

I've got one batch in with the barnies full clutch of pure Barnie, and olive and blue eggs that will be his too. Doms & a blue maran egg in there too. Then when the ones hatching how I have a turner to put in with barnyard mix eggs and then I going to pull the roosters and let the hens have a break all together in the breeding pen for a month and then to the egg pen with the little dears... Good chance to single everyone out to get bands checked too ;) and I have to decide if u want to keep any of these roosters... But that month should give me 2 more bators full and they'll go in in 3 weeks and 4 weeks respectively then I'm done hatching for the year unless my one friend sends me eggs :) could be 150 chicks... Which is a lot... Anyone want any chicks lol... Kinda joking but yea we are happy it's going well it's been a tough year so it's nice to have chickies healthy and everything going pretty smoothly

So the chickens browse in your yard or does your husband manicure and fertilize the chicken pasture as well?
They go everywhere, there is no more fenced chicken yard (bear)

I just ate store bought eggs for the first time ina very long time... All I can say is you can't tell the difference if you put enough tobasco sauce on it. Shameful, I know.
ewww store bought eggs

i would soak it in the epsom salt, then maybe a drawing salve, a think honey works similarly to a drawing salve

Cool maybe I will do that and if I don't have to cut into her foot that's fantastic. Honey works well on us humans this is extremely potent but I have some with aloe mixed in- you that that would be ok then? How long should I soak it?

If the puss ball is very hard, you may want to cut it out but then the healing process takes forever.
If you do cut it, don't use hydrogen peroxide. That will destroy any new cells. After you squeeze out the pus ball, use betadine. It does the same thing as HP but won't destroy new cells and will promote healing. You'll also have to keep it extremely clean by keeping it wrapped and putting her in her own quarters with fresh dry bedding.

I had chickens perching on a fence rail covered with ragged chicken wire. Half of them got bumble foot. I treated half of them using the surgery method and the rest with the less invasive technique. They all healed but I think the less invasive technique was quicker.

This is the treatment used by the U of KY for treating bumblefoot in raptors.
It's the technique I followed.

I couldn't find CEH in the US so I bought Hypericum ointment and some essential oils of calendula and Echinacea and mixed them.
