Every time someone says Ancona, I think chickens - not ducks. I used to raise them.

I think dog when I hear Pomeranian.

some of them are REALLY bad

Lol the chickens are beautiful too bUT ducklings are just so cure lol.

some of them are REALLY bad

They can get pretty ugly.
But you can also selectively breed the caruncle down to a more esthetic look.
I have been able to get my drakes down to just the red cheeks and no warts over the beak, while my females have almost no red, other than some eye shadow.
Unfortunately, I lost my best drake last fall to an eagle, and I am starting again with one of his sons.
Two hens currently sitting due date third week of June, so we will see if the genes carry over by the fall.
