It's been a long day of waiting here!

One chick out, the other hasn't made any progress. The first one broke free around 9:15 this morning with half the yolk unabsorbed, it turned and flipped and went all over and it eventually broke free, the yolk stayed in shell.

The other one, has a yellowish liquid dried around the pip... Does this mean it needs help!?

New chick behind the egg with pip is named Annie :)

Awwww

:hugs :tongue :smack :tongue I am coming to steal your burdz! Hmmm ... I think you live here :D x2 Poor Puppy! Hope she gets better soon! Sounds like the weather here, but I LOVE it! This is how June should be every year!
No way, if I lived next to a pond I'd pick one with no snappers! They eat burd. Ask me how I know. :/

Too funny- I had a chick named annie!
Are you trying to tell me something? :lau :hugs
Sorta :lau A window hopper is someone who sees oppertunities, misspellings, or gaps (windows) in a post that may lead to another definition (lose vs loose, etc) and won't leave it alone. They are usually very funny. Which is why I gave you a goat jumping through a window! :D -Banti

Yup - I did that. Worked well. I slipped two frozen water bottles under her, and kept swapping them out with fresh ones form the freezer when they would warm. In fact, I have some in the freezer now to break the NEXT broody. It's a broody epidemic!!!!! :barnie

All three of my OEGB are broody or raising chicks, thankfully the rest are either babies or not broody breeds. Although I have one EE that is rather suspicious looking. :/

There must be something in the air..... Or, no..... Worse than that.......

@sourland! Your broody GPS has malfunctioned- for goodness sakes, turn it off!!!

That's cause as soon as the wet feathers warm up to body temperature, it has no effect. Perhaps if you dunked them every 20 minutes or so it would work.

Try dumping a bunch of ice cubes in each nest. They can't keep their underside warm sitting on ice.

Just like here - with high humidity year round.

Adirondacks are beautiful.

Whenever you suspect a sick bird, it's best to quarantine immediately.
Yes. Lots of people have second homes here for the fall. Winter is different! I saw a sign that said something like "The Adirondacks - A Piece of Heaven." Obviously someone either likes 30 below or has a second home in Florida where they spend the winter!

Because whole broods of Burds get eaten by snappers at my neighbors pond. :hit No!! You will never get Tucson, Chrissy, and Heather- ask this bunch how much I wanted them! -Banti

Call me crazy, but .... I was wondering what my ducks really eat so I tried a piece of their food (

) and YUCK! I can't believe they eat that stuff!

Kinda tastes like what it smells like except it also tastes stale.
I now recommend that you all try some of your ducks food and adjust their diets accordingly! jk :)

But I must!
I can't think of how, though.

That's no good. Oooh I know I can get a giant pea and drive it around so all the ducks will come and follow me! That is the best plan ever!
