Kids made flock blocks today, this is only a bit of them, they mixed 2.5 gallons of it. The flocks devoured their first taste of them too. we added equal amounts of crack corn BOSS scratch Layer Pellets Oatmeal Wild Bird Seed and added about 2 dozen crushed eggshells 8 eggs and shells crushed and hot water until it made a thick mix and then baked it 300 in oven until hard and starting to brown.

Sally did you read the book "roots " written by Alexander Haley? There is a nice old recepy for this kind of chicken cookies, in the book!

I understand your point, but it wasn't me that said that peafowl tast like bold eagle.
I want to understand a point, if it wasn't your national symbol, it was OK to eat it? Do people eat outer eagle species in the us?

I think all the eagles are protected, but i am not 100% sure
so, no people dont eat eagles

Correct killing an eagle is a Federal Offense.

I think people eat those animals that one can get a hunting permit for, and pretty sure they don't issue permits for birds of prey, so probably not.

But from my point of view, if you eat squirrel or a raccoons way not a bald eagle?

I think people eat those animals that one can get a hunting permit for, and pretty sure they don't issue permits for birds of pray, so probably not.

I am so sorry paddler, that sucks big time. I have been extremely lucky here. Do you have a cam to set up? or even a baby monitor you could watch at dusk? Are they all the same breed at this point? not sure what breeds you had.

Except for a nearly 8 year old Ameraucana - who got killed - they're all Black Penedesencas. This building had all my mature hens ranging from 2 to 5. I don't have a bird over a year of age any more.
I have a lot of trapping and camera plans. I just wish I had more than one camera. Maybe I'll buy another with all the money I'll be saving on chicken feed.

I just found one on craigslist for $40. He has 6 of them he'll let go for $200. Same camera used on Amazon is $104. I really could use all 6.
I just can't get over how many people I read about on BYC that say they don't have predators and don't lock up their chickens.

After I lost 4 coops full of birds a couple years ago, I went out to check on a rooster and hen after dark that were in a building. Shining the flashlight through the window, there were no chickens but a mink sitting on the roost looking at me. I shot it. I bought a baby monitor and put it in one of the coops. 2 nights later I was awakened to lots of thrashing but no chicken clucking. I ran out to find a mink slaughtering birds. I was able to save half of them. The doors had a1" gap under them. I added extensions to bring them down to the concrete floor. I'm about to wrap those extensions in metal.
