You can't be that much older than me.Not hard when you are one
You can see the water from both oceans but not the whole ocean from the same spot.In the middle of the Panama Canal you can also see the Atlantic and the Pacific! But I can bet the the scenery is not as beutiful!
Yes it is and much cheaper than Costa Rica. I just like the fact that CR has been one of the most stable countries since the 19th century and a stable democracy since 1949 when they abolished their military.I have been to the Panama Canal and have seen it. Panama is beautiful!!!
Continued prosperity and stability throughout the decades of regional turmoil when all it's neighbors were either US supported dictatorships or communist regimes.

I probably shouldn't share any of this because everyone will want to move there and ruin it.

#1 in all the Americas and #5 globally on the environmental performance index.
The government has vowed to be the first carbon-neutral country by 2021. Last year
Happy Planet Index ranked it the happiest place on earth 2 years straight.
It has been declared the most biologically place on the planet. Amazing for a country the size of West Virginia. In Missouri, we have one species of hummingbird for part of the year. They have 52 species.
Tapirs, 6 species of wild cats including jaguars ocelots and pumas, anteaters, two-toed and three-toed sloths, 4 kinds of monkeys crocodiles, poison dart frogs, pelicans, 3000 species of butterflies. That's 18% of all on earth and more than the entire continent of Africa.
Blah, blah, blah, I won't go on because now I'm 140 posts behind.
You can.All mesoamerica is wonderful! I wish I could visit it!
Your bones aren't close to the age of mine. It's all about the right mattress. I use the self inflating Thermarest because it is small, lightweight and perfect for backpack or canoe. If you can afford to carry more weight and not worried about space, a thicker air mattress with pump is the way to go. Or a cot.We always tent camp out at Capitol forest but my old bones can't take it any more. Lol the kids sure miss it.
Another key is removing any stones before pitching the tent.
Also, don't scrimp on the tent investment and shop around. There are great designs. There's a 2 pole

The one in the first picture on the following page is the one I have and I really like it. It runs on white gas, coleman fuel or kerosene and, except for the gas cylinder, everything fits in a little pouch about 5"X5"X3"Yes! BTW can you recommend a good light stove? Favorite filter bottle?

It comes with a fireproof fabric hood that allows you to bake in it. I've made pizza in mine. It will also bake biscuits or bread.
It is a Peak 1 and I'm not sure they make the exact one any more.

Some people swear by the MSR Whisperlite (packed weight 15 oz.) but I've never had a problem with the Peak 1.
