I need to be more consistent weighing chicks but they are too wild to keep on a scale.@ChickenCanoe , @sseabass and everyone else that might be curious... peachicks are delicate when young, and they really do best if raised in a proper brooder if they weren't hatched by a hen.
Peachicks will usually lose weight for three to four days, but by day 5 should be gaining weight daily.
Diarrhea in a peachick is never normal.
It's my belief until proven otherwise, that a baby bird gets probiotics from its mother's feces. Chicks raised by healthy mothers don't get pasted vents. IMHO, only those in brooders without added probiotics get that condition. They are quite slow, and their niacin requirements might actually be higher than ducks, but I can't say for sure. As for the diarrhea, I haven't had to use probios, but sure would if any of mine got the runs. A healthy chick will have poop that looks a certain way if it's being fed crumbles. Will try to get some pictures of that today.

Quote: Thanks! We call it the $100 peachick, lol. Six shipped eggs, only one chick... probably more cost effective to buy chicks, lol.

I don't know, I can only hope she is doing fair until I can get home with the medicine after work.Okay, sort of caught up. @daxigait , how's your goat? You might find this interesting... the chick with the broody does eat her poop, and it's the only one of the 14 that started gaining weight by day 2, the others didn't start gaining until day 3 or 5.. Interestingly, I have never seen a peachick or a duckling with pasty butt, only chicken chicks.

What's wrong with her?I don't know, I can only hope she is doing fair until I can get home with the medicine after work.
