Wow such great information for incubation. I wish I had the time, and the $$ for this. But I am just hoping that some of the older hens I have will go broody and hatch out some babies for us next spring. I also wish I could get a set up again for my chickens and their chicks. I will eventually. I suppose one of these days I will even be able to have an incubator and a brooder and a nursery to put them in when done in the brooder. Love seeing all of the excitement, I look forward to seeing all the babies soon too!

My hubby thinks I should stop hanging out with you guys. He says you're a bad influence on me because I just bid on more eggs. He thinks I'm becoming obsessed, I tell him that it's better than another child (which I've brought up to him recently and he doesn't want any more kids). He didn't have much to say after that :)
I tease my husband about that too.

98 is not good, at least get it to 99-101 your better at those number than the lesser, what watt bulb is in it? you candle from that clear area, you put the light at that end, that is the air cell yes, and you look down through that clear spot into the egg to candle.

So far, that's the best I've been able to get. I'm thinking the incubator may need to move to another room as it hasn't truly evened out. Thanks for the candling info. I may try again in a few days... or you know.. tonight.

Well that ends my first hatch (I have another 10 due in 8 days :p) and it was a 100% successful hatch (7/7) . 4/7 eggs were actually from the fridge! I want to say a special thanks to Sally for keeping me calm and answering all my questions. Along with the others who have answered my questions and reading your tips and answers to the other noobs like me!

I'm gonna let them fluff out and il take a picture! I hope they all make it over this next week.

Congrats!

Here are my 23, I checked the other 3, 2 have internal pips and the chicks are peeping, the last one didn't have any movement or peeping but I left it just in case.

What a nice bunch of little peeps.

Chickens vs. Children.... I think you won that round.

Honestly, I would not take any stock into that old wives tale. Supposedly you can tell if a woman is pregnant with a boy or girl based on if she carries high or low. I'm pretty sure either would be just a guess. If it matters to you, they were wrong 2 out of 3 times with my kids.

Yeah, I've heard that one also. But I'm dying to know why the key starts turning when I point it towards my pulse and it doesn't when I point it towards my DH

It might have been bad eggs. Especially if jubilees are hard to hatch anyway. I'm not sure though seeing as to how mine aren't ready for the incubator yet. It seems like I've been waiting forever. I'm going to wait until they are laying their full sized eggs before I pop em in. So excited!!!

for ya. Let me know if you are in Texas and I will buy some eggs if you ever sell them

I personally find all these things, and the thing with the sticks and the water, really creepy haha
