we finally got the hot weather back, but it has been cold at night
yesterday was 90* and wicked humid
and around 50 overnight

It's a wonder to me that a snake hasn't claimed such a spot for a nest of its own, and killed your hen. You (or your hen) must be part Irish :idunno

Morning Whites

This rock formation is inside the coop. Any snake would have to get past 30 hens and one rooster to get there. It gets far too hot there for a hen to roost. Hens will lay real far back unless the area is backed up with hens as it usually is. I haven't been out to feed yet but I'm quite certain she's still there.

Yes I'm Irish. I also can't hear the rattle of the snake so I'm depending on sight. Not deaf just can't hear that sound along with others.

I'd carried him along to a trial I was judging in upper PA , hoping to sell him 'cause he just didn't have it, but was well bred. I wanted to get rid of him, but certainly not that way.
too bad you werent able to sell him, or make him into breeding stock

The first one I took all the eggs from her, as she swapped out eggs. There is one behind the buck hay feeder, I don't know how long she has been there or how many eggs she has. I'm just a little to large to fit back there.
