Hi All,

Thank you for taking a look at my message.

I'm looking to purchase a new incubator. I just had a couple of questions in regards to some of the incubators I've been looking at: -How should the eggs sit in the incubator? (vertical or horizontal) -How much should the eggs turn, is rocking back and forth once every 2 hours enough? -We are after a larger incubator (24 eggs) do you have any suggestions of incubators that aren't too expensive (around the $100-$200 mark)? Eggs sit upright in the one I was looking a buy below.

Thank you,

Jason

Does the incubator above have a brand name? I've never seen that one before.
Turning the eggs every few hours will be fine, but you want to tilt them in one direction & leave them 'til the next time you turn them.

I believe your best bet at this point would be to check out the articles at the very beginning of this thread. After digesting all of that information, if you still have questions, don' hesitate to jump back in and ask any questions you have.

Do you have any idea yet as to what breed of eggs you want to incubate?

Good luck with your incubator selection; there are several good ones out there; some a lot better than others. For myself, I prefer an automatic turner; you won't have to schedule your day around turning your eggs that way. Some incubators will accommodate a turner; some won't.

Good luck with your search and your first batch of eggs. I'd start with local eggs, rather than spending money having them shipped.

Ohhh! I didn't consider the power being off to be included in "the same way".

#1 rule- When working with electricity, HAVE IT OFF. Even if the wire is white, cause the people before you could have wired it wrong.

The only old electricians are wise electricians- Be an old electrician.

Hi! Welcome!! I own an incubator that holds the eggs vertically and one that holds them horizontally. I have not seen a difference in hatch rate. I recommend an Incuview from The Incubator Warehouse. It's in your price range.

Or one that started late in life. Or one that doesn't do much work. Or...
I've unscrewed enough outlet covers to change them out without turning off the electric. :D
