I only have two hens and will only breed a few replacements. Mainly, I want to make blue egg layers with my Leghorns, and green egg layers with others. My two concentrations will be my HRIR and EE. I have a nice EE cock and an Ameraucana.

And due to past experience I would not get rid of the other rooster till you have replacement.

I really like Levin. Better tail angle, color, ear lobe and breast. However as in my case CC is correct small gene pool. I'll be using both roosters.

Here's the next nest setting up for broody. Hoping for few more eggs tonight then in she goes. I'll be putting her into cage that the last broody just came out out of. The six chicks were moved into another. One chick rooster has good structure already. Be curious to see how he plays out.

I have to make a final choice between these two cocks. Any opinions? Neither are that good considering they came from GFF, but they are all I have this year.

Here is Penny enjoying her freedom after I sold the four week old chicks last night.

Sally and friends, I shared this at granny's house but wanted to announce it here, also.

Now that bubba has started school, I'm making the move into full-time farming. I've named myself "Sowing & Crowing." I'm focusing on crafts, food, and the svart honas and HRIR for now. I'm trying to garden, but I'm just really super bad at it.

Anyway, if y'all have Facebook or Instagram you can follow my journey there! I'll post a few of my recent endeavors, too.

I have business cards!

Name bands so I can tell my HRIR hens apart.

Rosie and a few of her 7 littles.

A few of my young honas, just at breeding age.

Mae West and chicken Mae West.

@Chaos18I also give 1/3-1/2 scoop of grain per doe in the winter twice a day. Plus free choice minerals and baking soda. I alternate a good grass and a legume or legume grass mix hay. In the worst weather remember goats hate wet and wet hay. I have a covered feeder that I made from a plastic shipping crate that I got damaged from a machine place. It has the two sides that fold down partially open. I made a plywood lid. I will search for a picture. They do OK with a round bale if it is semi shelterded. You can also make a cattle panel feeder with an old partial panel hooked at the bottom of the wall (hinged) and v-ed out at the top for loading in their shed.
