The little chick passed about 15 minutes ago. Just finished burying it.

sorry you lost it!

Anyone have a foolproof, tried and true solution for mosquitoes?

Most solutions say "remove standing water" but I'm on 120 acres of standing water... So that's not totally an option.

Thanks all. I got a little attached to it with holding it for nearly two days straight. :(. Poor little thing. It flapped its wings like crazy with its final breath.

Not a dadgum thing wrong with the a/c unit; wall receptacle gone bad. Only lasted 43 years; don't make stuff the way they used to. Just for grins I grabbed a heavy duty extension & plugged in to another receptacle & a/c fired right up.
Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

So the cord was good.

How do you add "too much" heat? Okay, I know it is possible. Just rare. You really need to try AZ Gunslinger. I just placed an order to include the new extra hot. It arrives tomorrow! And, my BBQ sauce will be in the order. Good stuff!
I was about to ask you (funny you mentioned it) how much horse radish would you say you add to a dozen deviled eggs? I have not used it on more than roast beef. I just remembered today (while waiting for internet to get fixed) that you were the one that used it in eggs.

It is sooo easy to make them too warm. People often put them in Rubbermaid type tubs with a heat lamp. That's a good way to fry them.
I always brooded in large spaces with hover brooders. I hatched 2 chicks once and figured a Rubbermaid tub would be perfect for them. I put a heat lamp above it with a thermometer on the bottom. The thermometer exploded. I decided to use a droplight with a 75 watt lamp.
On another occasion I had 2 more chicks I kept with a chicken sitter. The chicks boiled because they were too hot.
IMHO, over 93 or so is too hot of the well being for hatchlings.

After a million internet problems, I am told this will be the last time I have an issue. The guy was over an hour late (it is Sunday. Who schedules appointments on Sunday? Especially during church hours?) and not friendly enough to say hi or give his name. I hope he just had a bad morning, and isn't always so thoughtless. No, I don't "hope" he had a bad morning.
Turns out it was just that Dish had no activated the right receiver. It took him almost two hours to get that straightened out.

Hi whites, just pulled this off the internet so....

A single little brown bat (myotis) can eat up to 1000 mosquitoes in a single hour, and is one of the world's longest-lived mammals for its size, with life spans of almost 40 years. Bats are more closely related to humans and other primates than they are to rodents.
