Quote: I wonder if Canada Geese could be used the same way. I could show researchers a seemingly endless supply of the filthy pests! You think ducks are bad? Ducks aren't even in the same league!
They have so many ponds & food sources here in crop fields that they stay here year around. Not all, but the vast majority does, anyway. They make such a mess at the local park that the town hired a guy with a dog, a kayak, and a remote-control toy boat to run them off. If the birds are on shore he sends the dog to chase them off. If they're on the water, he sends the boat in to run them off. If that fails, he gets the kayak out and heads into them. The whole idea, of course, is to harass the geese so much that they go somewhere quieter.

I have actually used Canada geese for research.
If you know a source of bar headed geese (within the US) I would be there in a shot!
Sorry, but I'm no help; never heard of Bar Headed Geese.

Got a question about wood.

We are cutting down 3 Tall Palm trees, a pine tree of some sort, and 2 coral trees. These are all causing some sort of root damage

Can the wood be used for burning (esp Palm tree) or is there a problem with that. Also are there other uses for the wood?

Seems crazy to have to pay to have it removed to the dump if someone could use it for free, even if it is just for firewood.

I see in the supermarket a small bundle of wood is $5

I don't know Palms or Corals; we don't have them here. Pine's no good as firewood unless in a camp fire; it'll create excess creosote in a chimney, A buildup of creosote is a recipe for a chimney fire.

You should be able to find info online about hardwoods suitable for firewood.

$5 for a few sticks of wood from the supermarket is for people who have more money than good sense, and just want a cozy, romantic fire to look at in their fireplace once in a while.

Quote: I was admiring my BCM rooster this evening while waiting for the wood splitting station to be in the shade again. BCM's make some handsome roosters. Going to be interesting seeing what his half grown kids out of my RSL's turn out like. A couple of them that I'm pretty sure are cockerels are already larger than any of the RSL hens, and the others aren't far behind.
