i guess i'll stir it tonight, and see if it does anything, its on my barn, is it too cold at night?

Not too cold. Even in the winter it rarely freezes. It just doesn't ferment as fast. I use warmer water if it's too slow.

Dont forget to tell people!! Share with all your friends! :)

:hit I don't have any.

I'm back. Since summer is coming to an end for us I pulled out the incubator, time to re-read all this useful information.

You asked about amount of peeping /chirping in eggs. I don't think there's a rhyme or reason. Some of it may be vigor of embryos, some may be distress as in baby chicks.
I wouldn't put too much stock in it until someone does definitive research.
Your second question. Was that about the membrane? Inner/Outer?

In the dead of winter it will definitely freeze to a rock. My Gro2Max powder says to keep it between 32 and 100 so either the yeast or bacteria has a problem being frozen.

Re: peeping - they were peeping a normal amount, but they had not pipped internally, which I didn't think was possible? You're probably wondering how I would know, (lol, maybe not, 'cause you know i'm a meddler. :D), and it's because I made a hole in the shell and could see that the membrane was not pipped, as in no hole that I could see.

Inner membrane, really thick and tuff.

I know the eggs were late and you can do what you want - but IMHO don't make holes if you want vigorous chickens. If they get to 21 days and don't make it, there could be 10+ reasons. Usually none of those are that they need help.
I've heard chirping before any kind of pips. That's part of how a hen knows what's going on. She talks back.

Inner membrane shouldn't change in thickness regardless of breed or line. Humidity has a lot to do with it.

A healthy vigorous embryo/chick should have no problem breaking free given the proper humidity.

Cool! Good luck with the mollies; apparently, they can be hard to keep alive. Very pretty guppies!

:tongue  Guineas aren't ugly! They're adorable!

  Dogs are awesome, but yikes! They could use some training! Free ranging chickens is out of the question, I assume?

:yesss:

:(  :hugs

Yup... They haven't moved back in yet though; and it will be a bit before they find my flock.

Help a fellow BYCer in need and get new babies!!

Anytime!!!
i just tried to make fermented feed, i think i am failing
but i also used cayenne instead of paprika, but i dont think its doing anything

Tis easy, get feed, add water, and stir a few x a day... Mine starts bubbing and smelling in a matter of hours even if im starting fresh. Tis amazing!

So it't normal for them to start peeping before they pip the internal membrane?
