Did you get a nice amount of honey this year?
No. I didn't manage my hives well this year but I still have a pretty big colony. I learned a lot so if I can keep this one alive through winter, I think next year will be good with my newfound knowledge.

Morning y'all. Looks like unfavorable weather for a work day.

It's been raining a couple days here and finally stopped.
The balloon glow (on the eve of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race) got cancelled for the first time in 44 years.
It is the oldest and largest free hot air balloon event in the world.
It was supposed to happen rain or shine but it was just too dangerous.
The race is still supposed to happen today.
I remember attending the very first one.
Lots of free fun around town every weekend. Besides the balloon race, there are over 10 festivals around town including a renaissance festival, Pioneer Days. a German and an Italian fest.

You dont have there the option to miss work because sickness, and get paid for it?
I have 30 daye each year that I can stay home because any health problems and get paid as long l bring a document from the doctor, and that includes child sickness ( but only for 7 days )
No. I have been with this health system for 3 years. Unfortunately we accrue CTO-paid time off which is equal to weeks a year-sick or vacation time. I don't have any left because I just started back full time in May and then got sick with pneumonia. And this was a workmans comp injury-my hand was smashed between a stretcher and a door. There is an 8 day waiting period because I am not "fully disabled" they have to try to find work for me within the system . But they are taking they time and nobody can make a decision or get back with me so that leaves me where I am. i am going back Monday to do "paperwork" but hopefully I can work with new grads and orientees training. It is a sad system-I spend my life taking care of others every day and when I am hurt or need help no one is there to look out for me

Ford wouldn't pay workmen's comp. If you got hurt at work, you still had to go to work even if you couldn't walk. They would put you in a chair and give you something to assemble.
I've known people get injured at work and would drag themselves outside so they could say they got injured at home.

Good morning everyone. It is rainy here in Michigan. But the coffee is on and I am determined to have a great day! Stan the roo is still not at his norm-he was in the corner of his cage with green diarrhea-maybe too many vitamins? Still more lethargic than usual and comb still dark in the back. Anybody got any ideas???? Today my husband is starting the breeding pens in the garage for the Seramas. I found these awesome big wood shelving units at a garage sale and he is going to chickenwire them and make drop down doors for cleaning and egg collection. That will give me 12 36"x24"x30" breeding pens-so much more space efficient than cages! Also a trip to the Family Farm and home for feed and wood chips. What does everybody else have going today?

yup you got it! It's a shame. The deal is I want to work-it's just my left hand and I can do stuff. i just can't lift dead weight patients. I can lift up to 5 lbs but I am a liability so I'm sure you know how that goes. What angers me are the politics that go along with it and why it took them 2 weeks between my department and corporate to find me work when i offered many suggestions as to what I can do. Its a long boring story but I'm sure you get the picture.... am going to take my husbands advice and enjoy the weekend I have off and try to rest and heal and put my energy into things I love instead of worrying about something i can't control. Missing 2 weeks of pay is not good but I am thankful that we are blessed enough to not have that be life altering.

Well I just got the first real night's sleep in a long time... Unfortunatly I am still sick. Having bad lungs sucks..... But I guess I just plug along..... Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Those balloon glows are pretty neat. I've attended this ballooning event : http://pershingballoonderby.com
That looks like a nice event and not very far from me (a little over 3 hours).

Yeah, I get your point. Get healed up quickly.

That's the truth - as are most industrialized nations.
Even much poorer nations have strict rules for employers to provide those benefits that aren't mandated here.
CR requires all employers to pay a set amount of vacation pay, a Christmas bonus, a pension, workman's comp, long weekends with pay on holidays and termination pay.

I am so tired. MY toddler decided to wake up at 1am, and didn't go back to sleeep until almost 6am, and then, my older kids were up and ready for breakfast.

:hmm I can't even see straight. He's cutting his molars, so he's been really grumpy lately, on top of not sleeping well. :(
