Happy Dance!! I have posted all over asking how your feeling! @Blarneyeggs

Most likely not; freezing & spoilage would likely be problematic.

That was my concern, besides the water addition.

Eh, I dunno if I just got nice birds, but my red and black sex links are behaviorally very tame. Walk right up for pets and holdings, don't bully the other hens much, and in general are decent birds. One did go blind in one eye after a fight with the Ancona, who's a real diva.

thanks draye   how your NN chicks doing? I would love to see them now!

I like the idea of an adjustable box, something like a tackle box with those slides?

The box is like those covered cardboard ones that come with the cabinet incubators. We just use some wood out grooves in it and cut out 1/4 inch plywood that goes in the grooves. Really works good.

Chicks are doing great. I've culled down to 27 now. 17 pullets and 10 cockerels. I know way too many cockerels but I've held on to a couple of extra and then a couple more. Seems like something is always happening and in need of an extra one.

Here's a couple of picture I took last week.

I've kept red ones for 10+ years...a few different flocks, thanks to coons...and mine are pretty much the same way. I don't try to pick them up unless there's a problem, but most of them come right up to me. In fact, if I'm in the run with them, I have to watch where I step or I'll step on their toes. Only time I've ever been pecked was when one went broody this past summer & didn't want me messing with her or her eggs.

It is the mess, the fact they are bitchy is secondary. I will give them more time. But hoping to get some more D'uccle eggs to hatch my boy a couple friends.

I had a few D'uccle eggs in one of my hatches, but all were clear except one, and it quit during lockdown. I love them though, and wish I had some. I'm will some day!

You crack me up!

Started up my incubator with a few eggs from my own flock. I have Rhode Island Red, Rhode Island White, Golden Sex Link, and New Hampshire Red girls. They are bred by a Rhode Island Red or a Silver Lackenvelder rooster. Will be interesting to see how the chicks turn out.

I think I need to take a trip to walmart plastics section lol I will find something, I also think I am going to have hubs drag upstairs the upright coolerbator, I have several more emails for Legbar and Mixes and I dont want to keep hand rolling all these eggs and have another bator going. I said I would never bring that up in my livingroom

The necks should redden up as they mature. I havoc some of the babies now that have the reddest faces you ever saw. Granted some of the neck necks, necks get redder than others.

They will be 7 weeks old come Thursday. Hard to believe isn't it.
